Marie Brokensha
DOB: 13 May 1960
Nationality: French / Australian
“Oui! je suis une femme Parisienne!
My childhood is of memories wandering the Trocadero, roller skating around the Eiffel Tower and the Bastille.
As a student, mingling with protestors and running from the teargas as the Gendarmes moved in. These strong images drove me to become a provocateur.
A prolific creative artist, Marie’s photography is thematically diverse. From black and white male and female nudes to intimate portraits, her images are clear, sensitive, and uncompromising.
Marie Brokensha has been honoured by the prestigious “Mois de la Photo” – photographic event in Paris and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
Settled in Sydney 12 years ago, the moving image became her new direction to explore women’s identity.
